Original Art Quilts

		Artist Jamila Hammad employs a combination of traditional and contemporary quilting techniques to create original art quilts inspired by the wonders of the living sea and the joy she feels at living on the beautiful island of St. Croix.
Art quilting is a multi-dimensional art form. The fabric becomes the canvas and the palette. Colored threads add shades and tone, and the free-motion machine-quilting process supplies rich texture.
		Finally, embellishments such as beads, sequins, yarns and ribbons, enhance the piece, bringing it all to life.
