About the Artist
Jamila Hammad lives on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, with husband Bob and cat Calypso. She was born in Colombia of a Palestinian father and was educated in New Jersey. In 2003 she saw an exhibit of art quilts, got seriously hooked and began to teach herself how to quilt. Her passion for quilting has taken over her professional life as a marketing consultant and now she quilts full time, and is thrilled to be doing exactly what she loves.

Jamila's original art quilts are inspired by the wonders of the living sea and the joy she feels at living in such a beautiful island. Jamila blogs her experiences at quilterinstcroix.blogspot.com.
